About the Cosecant HS Denominator 32/192
The Wavelength Audio Cosecant HS Denominator DAC is a high-end vacuum tube USB digital to analog converter designed and built in the USA by Gordon Rankin. It features the Denominator 32/192 DAC module which uses a 32-bit Sabre DAC chip operating in synchronous mode with ultra low jitter master clocks at 45.1584/49.152 MHz to support sampling rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz. The device employs discrete power supplies for all analog supplies and master clocks, ensuring high fidelity. It uses a 6GM8/ECC86 vacuum tube for output, delivering an output voltage between 2.5Vac and 2.75Vac depending on the tube. The Cosecant HS Denominator is USB 1.1 and 2.0 compliant, supporting 32kHz, 44.1kHz, and 48kHz at 16 bits, with asynchronous USB code developed by Gordon Rankin. The unit measures 6.5 x 6.5 x 5 inches (WxDxH) and includes an outboard power supply. It is known for a relaxed, non-fatiguing sound with tonal purity and balance, and uses a single resistor for passive I/V conversion to maintain linearity across the audio band. The power supply uses Linear Technologies regulators and Hexfred rectifiers, with a total of 22 Black Gate capacitors for superior audio performance. The Cosecant HS Denominator is It is a modular design allowing upgrades and uses custom-wound output transformers. The product is still available but in limited quantities due to discontinued components like the MagneQuest output inductors.
