About the Brick
The Wavelength Audio Brick is a compact, solidly built USB DAC designed for audiophiles seeking a musical, slightly colored sound signature. It uses a Philips TDA1543N2 multi-bit DAC chip in a non-oversampling, non-filtering configuration, paired with a 12AU7/ECC82 dual triode tube in a reactor-follower output stage for a warm, detailed, and analog-like presentation. The asynchronous USB interface ensures minimal jitter by allowing the DAC to control the data transfer clock, rather than relying on the computer's clock. The Brick is plug-and-play compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux systems, requiring no special drivers. It is housed in a heavy, cast aluminum enclosure and includes a custom external power supply. The output is single-ended RCA, and the unit is known for its ease of use and musicality, though it is not strictly neutral—offering a touch of tube warmth and texture.
