About the HE833 Ver 1.3
The WAVAC HE-833 Ver 1.3 is a mono-mono configuration single-ended triode power amplifier that uses the venerable 833A transmitting triode, known for its historical use in broadcast and transmitter applications. It delivers an effective power output of 150 watts per channel, making it one of the most powerful single-ended triode amplifiers in production. The amplifier features a triode-wired KT88 driver stage coupled to the 833A through a low impedance transformer, enabling ideal drive conditions and full sonic potential. The input stage uses an ultra-low noise Western Electric 437A tube for maximum dynamic range. The design is direct-coupled and capacitor-free, preserving low-level resolution and musical refinement. The chassis is CNC machined from a 60mm block of aerospace-grade aluminum with a champagne-tinted finish, and it includes custom gold-plated phosphor bronze sockets isolated with elastomeric suspension. Transformers are custom-built in Japan under strict specifications. The HE-833 Ver 1.3 supports 4 and 8 ohm speaker taps, has an input sensitivity of 1Vrms, input impedance of 100k ohms, frequency response from 20Hz to 100kHz, and a signal-to-noise ratio around 80dB. It consumes approximately 500 watts of power and weighs about 55 kg (121 pounds). Optional acrylic tube guards are available for protection and ventilation. The amplifier is CE certified and handmade in Japan. It is highly regarded for combining high power with musical refinement and is
