About the 27ix
The Wadia 27ix is the third-generation version of the original Wadia 27 DAC, featuring advanced 24-bit digital processing with two Motorola 56000 DSP chips and eight Burr-Brown 1702 DACs in full-differential mode. It supports sample frequencies up to 96kHz and includes a proprietary jitter-reduction circuit called RockLok. The unit offers six digital inputs: two ST-type glass-fiber optical, two coaxial S/PDIF on BNC jacks, one TosLink optical, and one AES/EBU XLR input. Outputs include balanced XLR and single-ended RCA jacks, both usable simultaneously. It has a digital volume control with 100 steps of 0.5dB increments, which maintains signal resolution when used near the top of the range. The chassis is robustly built from thick aluminum panels with a black anodized finish, weighing 32 lbs and measuring 17" W x 4.125" H x 16" D. The 27ix is highly regarded for its transparency, soundstage, and detailed presentation, especially when paired with the Wadia 270 transport.
