The VTL TP-2.5 Series II is a beautifully constructed phono preamplifier that delivers high-resolution analog sound at an accessible price point. Completely redesigned from the earlier Series I, it represents a trickle-down design from VTL's flagship TP-6.5 phono stage, offering dramatic improvements in speed, delicacy, nuance, and drive. The unit features low-noise hybrid JFET/tube active circuitry for the MC stage and pure tube circuitry for the MM stage, with separate inputs for both cartridge types. The signal path is kept simple and direct with audiophile-grade components throughout, including REL capacitors and a toroidal power transformer with comprehensive AC RF filtering. The TP-2.5 Series II provides excellent detail retrieval, well-defined imaging, and rhythmically compelling performance, making it an entry point to true high-end analog sound. It features an elegant silhouette with aluminum top and thick sides mounted to a well-braced chassis for improved rigidity.
