About the Deluxe 300 Mono Tube
The VTL Deluxe 300 is a pair of classic high-end monoblock tube power amplifiers from the late 1980s, praised by Stereophile's J. Gordon Holt for their transparency, lack of grain or dryness, and ability to provide a clear window on the original sound without drawing attention to themselves. Designed by David Manley, these amps originally used GE 6550 tubes, later Svetlana or Electro-Harmonix 6550s, with configurations including 8x 6550 output tubes, 1x 12AT7, and 1x 12BH7 per monoblock. They operate in ultralinear mode, offering massive power suitable for driving demanding loudspeakers with warmth, punch, and clean dynamics. Units are Recent used sales range - with serviced examples higher. No longer manufactured, but serviceable with modern tubes.
