About the TNT 5

The VPI TNT 5 turntable embodies designer Harry Weisfeld's latest innovations in turntable design and high-tech materials for analog playback. It features a 21 lb stainless steel motor assembly and a high-inertia flywheel that rotate a massive laminated platter with astonishingly low noise. The motor assembly is grounded from motor to power supply to AC power source for quieter operation. A voltage reduction circuit reduces power to the motor once the platter reaches speed, minimizing motor vibration transmission. The platter is made from carefully matched materials (aluminum and lead-filled acrylic) to damp unwanted vibrations in the vinyl disc. It includes a reflex clamping system providing vacuum-like hold down without noise or pump hassles. The VPI Synchronous Drive System offers accurate speed control for 33 1/3 and 45 RPM (78 RPM available at extra cost) and power line filtration. The TNT 5 Hotrod version includes a JMW-12.5 tonearm mounted directly to the chassis, eliminating the armboard and three-pulley system for direct motor-to-platter drive. Overall, the TNT 5 achieves rumble, wow, and flutter specifications below current measuring limits, delivering exceptional analog playback performance.
