The VPI Traveler V2 turntable combines a 3/16" thick aluminum top plate bonded to a thick acrylic base, creating a very quiet, self-damping, and perfectly aligned chassis. It features a machined aluminum platter damped with a stainless steel disc and an integral cloth mat, weighing approximately 7 pounds. The platter runs on a high-quality bearing allowing free spinning and slow deceleration. The motor is a low-noise 600 rpm AC synchronous motor directly mounted on the plinth, providing stable speed control immune to voltage variances. The 10.4" tonearm uses ultra-low friction sapphire gimbaled bearings for both vertical and horizontal movement, with a precision counterweight and tracking force adjustment system. The arm includes on-the-fly vertical tracking angle (VTA) adjustment and connects via proprietary connectors to RCA jacks on the plinth. The turntable supports speeds of 33⅓ and 45 rpm with wow and flutter less than 0.02%, rumble greater than 80 dB down, and speed accuracy within ±0.1%. The entire assembled unit weighs about 24 pounds and comes in finishes including black, red, white, and blue. The Traveler V2 is praised for its robust construction, excellent sonic presentation with deep, tight bass, and a large acoustic soundstage with sharply focused imaging.
