About the TNT 1

The VPI TNT Mk 1 is the original model in the TNT series, representing VPI's initial ambitious and advanced turntable design focused on extreme performance and engineering excellence. It features a plinth made of two layers of 1-inch black acrylic welded together, a standard Delrin screw-down clamp, and spring suspension for isolation. The motor is a 600 RPM AC motor controlled by a Power Line Conditioner (PLC) speed box. The platter is a 1.75-inch thick acrylic with an 11.5-inch diameter. The drive system uses a single-belt drive into a 'T' structure pulley system, although this pulley system was later considered inefficient and is recommended to be replaced with a standard VPI single-belt pulley system. The feet are adjustable isolation Delrin corner posts with leveling capability. The TNT Mk 1 does not include a dedicated tonearm but is compatible with linear tracking arms such as Eminent Technology, Graham Phantom, and SME. Overall dimensions are 25"W x 19"D x 8"H (without dustcover), and the assembled unit weighs between 65 to 120 lbs depending on build and accessories. This model established a new standard for VPI and future high-end turntable designs.
