The VPI TNT-6 HR (Hot Rod) turntable builds on the TNT-6 platform by incorporating the dual motor/flywheel assembly from the HR-X model, providing ultimate speed stability and smoothness of sound. It features an inverted bearing design refined from the Scout and HR-X models, with a larger clear acrylic platter and an expanded, longer bearing for improved performance. The dual low power 300 RPM 24 pole motors enable quick start-up and excellent speed control. The inverted bearing design places the thrust ball just below the record surface, minimizing random motion and teeter-totter effects by driving the platter through the middle of the bearing assembly. The tonearm assembly is directly mounted to the plinth without a traditional armboard, increasing rigidity and reducing noise. The TNT-6 HR typically pairs with the JMW 12.5 tonearm, offering a complete package that balances musical performance, practicality, and aesthetic appeal. The turntable occupies a footprint of approximately 25" x 19" and is known for its quiet operation, dynamic sound, and precise speed control. It supports 33 and 45 rpm speeds and uses a belt-drive system. The clamping assembly includes a periphery ring clamp for secure record holding.
