About the Scout
The VPI Scout Signature turntable builds on the legacy of the original Scout model, offering enhanced stability and damping through a chassis made from 1 1/8" thick MDF bonded to a 12 gauge steel plate. It features a massive 1 3/8" thick machined 6061 aluminum platter mounted on a chrome-hardened ball bearing with a 60 Rockwell-hardened shaft and a black Delrin nut, ensuring quiet and stable rotation. The turntable is driven by a 600 RPM AC synchronous motor housed in an isolated steel enclosure, providing accurate and consistent speed. The included JMW 9 tonearm uses a uni-pivot design with a tapered armtube filled with proprietary damping material to reduce resonance, resulting in a rich sound with a wide soundstage and improved resolution. The tonearm geometry matches that of the Rega RB300, allowing easy cartridge compatibility. Additional features include aluminum cone feet with stainless steel ball bearings for vibration isolation, anti-skate mechanism, and a solid Delrin one-piece record clamp. The Scout Signature is finished in a black satin finish and is recognized for its excellent performance and value in the high-fidelity turntable market.
