The VPI Classic 2 SE is a high-quality turntable designed for audiophiles seeking precise control over their listening experience. It features a robust construction with a simple yet effective aesthetic, focusing on performance rather than appearance. Key components include a 10.5-inch Classic 2 tonearm made from 6061 aluminum, which offers a tapered armtube with a unipivot bearing and a dropped counterweight to lower its center of gravity. The tonearm includes a calibrated micro-adjustment dial for adjusting the vertical tracking angle (VTA) on the fly, a feature that distinguishes it from the Classic 1 model. The turntable itself uses a massive, inverted bearing with a stainless-steel shaft supporting an 18-pound platter machined from aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum. The platter is belt-driven by a heavy-duty AC synchronous motor, allowing for easy speed changes between 33 and 45 rpm by moving the belt onto different parts of the motor's stepped Delrin pulley. The Classic 2 SE comes with a rubberized record mat and includes tools like a Shure balance beam tracking force gauge and cartridge alignment protractor for precise setup.
