About the VLA

The VMPS VLA is a 180 cm (6 ft) tall powered woofer column designed for high-performance subwoofer applications. It incorporates four 30 cm drivers plus one 38 cm (15") active driver with a low mass, high acceleration design, featuring a vitrified paper/Kevlar laminate cone and a heavy, Dynamat-damped stamped basket. The system includes a 1000W built-in amplifier with an electronic crossover and a single-band parametric EQ that allows users to notch out room modes, specifically targeting a 71 Hz mode for an 8 ft ceiling. The VLA also uses a 38 cm mass-loaded passive radiator in slot loading to extend bass response. The design avoids high moving mass typical of competitors, offering a flat frequency response up to 300 Hz and beyond. The active/passive setup lowers bass cutoff into the teens and early twenties Hz, especially when combined with the optional high-power, 80 oz stacked magnet woven carbon fiber Megawoofer. The VLA weighs approximately 72 kg (160 lbs), with 10 kg (22 lbs) attributed to the driver, and measures 76 W x 58 H x 46 D cm (30"W x 23"H x 18"D). It is
