About the 626R
The VMPS 626R is a three-way loudspeaker system incorporating a dehorned spiral ribbon tweeter covering 7 kHz to 20 kHz, a push-pull neodymium planar midrange driver operating from 280 Hz upwards, and a 6.5-inch poly/mica cone woofer with a 20-ounce magnet, 4-layer voice coil, and cast frame. It features VMPS's patented Constant Directivity Waveguide (CDWG) technology for 180-degree horizontal dispersion, providing a wide sweet spot and large soundstage. The speaker cabinet uses SR71/BH5 damping materials to reduce resonance. The crossover is fully CD equalized polypropylene. The 626R has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms with a minimum of 4.6 ohms at 280 Hz, and a sensitivity of 89 dB/1W/1m. Power handling is rated at 200 watts RMS. Level controls for midrange and treble allow tonal adjustments to suit room acoustics and listener preference. The speaker is designed for audiophiles who appreciate planar speaker characteristics such as detailed imaging and low cabinet resonance, though it requires careful placement due to rear wave reflections. Dimensions approximate 61 cm height, 25 cm width, and 33 cm depth, weighing about 18 kg. The 626R is often paired with high-quality amplification and source components to maximize performance.
