About the PHO-700
The Vincent PHO-700 Phonostage is a two-piece design consisting of a phono stage and a separate, highly regulated and heavily shielded power supply. It features a 12AU7 vacuum tube used as a dual triode in the signal path, contributing to a warm and true-to-life sound. The unit uses high-quality components such as Burr-Brown opamps, Wima polypropylene capacitors, Nichicon electrolytic capacitors, and metal film resistors. The power supply is robust and designed to minimize ripple and hum, connected to the phono stage via a nine-pin D-Sub cable, allowing placement away from the audio circuitry to reduce interference. The PHO-700 supports both MM and MC cartridges with a rear switch, with fixed input impedances of 47 kOhm for MM and 100 Ohm for MC. It has adjustable LED backlight intensity for the valve glow visible through a front window. The phono stage offers low distortion, wide frequency response, and high signal-to-noise ratios, making it a well-regarded upper entry-level tube phono preamplifier.
