The Plasmatron Model 3 is engineered to supply AC power optimized for audio and video systems, enhancing the performance of digital front-end components to achieve a more analog-like sound quality. It uses gas-filled Thyratron tubes, which are gas-controlled rectifiers capable of handling higher current than typical vacuum tubes, producing a distinctive blue plasma glow. The unit includes two precision-matched C3J tubes and two Furutech GTX Rhodium AC duplex outlets. It features a manual bypass switch and is designed to improve micro detail and body in sound reproduction, making digital audio sound more natural and detailed. The Plasmatron Model 3 was developed starting in 2011, with early prototypes tested by audiophiles who reported significant improvements in sound quality. It consumes 60 watts at idle and is available in 117v (U.S.) or 240v international versions, specified at order time.
