About the SMS-1

The Velodyne SMS-1 is a state-of-the-art digital subwoofer management system designed to improve the performance of any subwoofer by providing automatic or manual in-room bass correction using a calibrated microphone. It features a full DSP-controlled 8-band parametric equalizer with adjustable frequency, Q, and gain, allowing precise tuning of the subwoofer's frequency response to the listening environment. The system includes adjustable crossovers (fixed 80Hz high-pass and variable low-pass from 15Hz to 199Hz), subsonic filters, phase control (0° to 180° in 15° increments), polarity switching, and volume control. It supports up to three subwoofers and offers six customizable presets for different listening modes, including night mode for volume limiting. The SMS-1 provides balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs and outputs, speaker-level inputs, and features an on-screen display for easy setup and control. It comes with a full accessory kit including a microphone, remote control, rack mount ears, and cables. The unit is compact (2" x 16.5" x 6.5") and was highly regarded for its ability to optimize subwoofer performance in various room conditions. The SMS-1 is discontinued but remains a respected product for subwoofer room correction and management.
