About the DPS
The Velodyne DPS subwoofer series includes models such as the DPS-10 and DPS-12, featuring 10" and 12" forward-firing drivers respectively. It uses a Digital Power Slot (DPS) design with DSP presets for different listening modes: Movies, R&B - Rock, Jazz - Classical, and Games. Each preset adjusts subsonic filter frequency, EQ frequency, EQ level, and volume differential to optimize sound for the selected mode. The subwoofer includes features like a Night Mode to limit maximum output for quiet listening and an Auto-on/off feature. The DPS-10 has a 10" driver with 375 watts dynamic power (185 watts RMS), frequency response of 28 Hz to 120 Hz, and a 40 oz magnet. The DPS-12 has a 12" driver with 400 watts dynamic power (200 watts RMS), frequency response of 25 Hz to 120 Hz, and a 55 oz magnet. Both models have line-level and speaker-level inputs and speaker-level outputs, a 2" four-layer copper voice coil, and come with a three-year electronics warranty and five-year driver warranty. The cabinet dimensions for the DPS-10 are 16.25" x 14.5" x 17" and for the DPS-12 are 18.25" x 14.5" x 19". The subwoofers are designed to deliver deep bass with slot-loaded ports and DSP-based mode selection rather than room EQ adjustment.
