About the Triode III
The Vaughn Triode III loudspeaker is a high-performance floor-standing speaker designed for audiophiles seeking detailed and refined sound. It features an 8-inch Fostex FE208 EZ wide-range driver with proprietary modifications, loaded with an 8-inch passive radiator, covering the midrange frequencies from 80 Hz to 7,000 Hz. The tweeter is an Arum Cantus G3 ribbon tweeter, extending the frequency response from 7,000 Hz to 40,000 Hz, providing airy and detailed highs. The bass section includes a powered 12-inch Dayton Reference HO woofer coupled with a 12-inch passive radiator, driven by a 300-watt Bash class D amplifier with adjustable crossover and volume, delivering deep and articulate bass down to 21 Hz. The cabinet is constructed from bamboo multi-core plywood with a front panel finished in Marmoleum over 13-ply Baltic Birch, combining aesthetics with acoustic performance. The speaker has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, a sensitivity of 97 dB at 1 watt/1 meter, and a frequency response spanning 21 Hz to 40,000 Hz. It weighs 114 pounds and measures 11 inches wide, 16 inches deep, and 44 inches high. The Triode III is designed to work well with low-powered single-ended tube amplifiers as well as more powerful tube monoblocks, offering a wide and deep soundstage with precise note articulation. It comes with a 5-year parts and labor warranty. Internal wiring uses Nordost Micro Monofilament, and it includes Bybee Purifiers for signal enhancement. The crossover is minimal, using only two parts for phase coherence, ensuring natural sound reproduction.
