About the VSM-1

The Vandersteen VSM-1 is a two-way surround loudspeaker designed specifically for rear channel use in multi-channel audio/video systems. It features a coaxial driver configuration with a 6.5-inch woofer and a 1-inch fabric-dome tweeter sharing the same acoustical center, ensuring perfect alignment and phase coherence. This design eliminates multi-driver interference and maintains consistent performance regardless of placement. The speaker is optimized to handle high-power, low-frequency signals from modern surround soundtracks, delivering a high dynamic range with superb timbre and voice matching to Vandersteen's center and floorstanding speakers. Constructed entirely of MDF to resist vibration and cabinet resonance, the VSM-1 mounts securely to walls using its own mass for stability and proper coupling. It can also be used as a high-quality remote speaker in multi-room installations. The speaker is phase-correct and designed to provide an expansive, realistic soundfield even when rear speakers cannot be ideally placed in a room.
