About the Seven
The Vandersteen Seven is a flagship four-way loudspeaker designed for extreme fidelity through time and phase accuracy. It features patented Perfect-Piston drivers made from carbon fiber and balsa wood, including a 1" tweeter, 4.5" midrange, 7" mid-woofer, and dual 12" powered push-pull subwoofers with a 400-watt linear amplifier and power-factor-corrected switching power supply. The speaker includes an eleven-band bass equalizer with master level and adjustable Q controls to tailor bass response to room acoustics. It has a sealed, faceted enclosure with a rear-firing .75" tweeter for ambient sound reproduction. The Seven offers a frequency response of 22Hz to 40kHz ±2dB, sensitivity of 83.5 dB, and nominal impedance of 4 ohms. Dimensions are 14" wide, 42.5" high, and 20" deep, weighing 170 lbs. It is made in the USA and was discontinued but remains highly regarded for its clarity, harmonic accuracy, and bass control. The Seven XTRM is a later evolution with enhanced features and a higher price point.
