The Vandersteen 2Wq is a powered subwoofer featuring three active eight-inch drivers, which collectively provide the cone area equivalent to a fourteen-inch woofer. This design enhances pitch definition and ensures stable frequency and phase responses, allowing for flexible crossover configurations. The drivers are downward-firing in a front slot-loaded configuration, minimizing midrange interference while delivering detailed bass. Each driver is equipped with a heavy-duty 1.5-inch, four-layer voice coil within a 40 oz, high gauss magnet structure for increased control and efficiency. The subwoofer includes a built-in 300-watt amplifier with advanced feed-forward error correction, providing the benefits of bi-amplification without additional complexity. The cabinet is constructed from MDF to minimize resonances.
