About the 2Ci

The Vandersteen 2Ci is a highly regarded three-way loudspeaker system designed for audiophiles seeking precise and transparent sound reproduction. It incorporates a ¾ inch aluminum dome tweeter, a 4½ inch plastic cone midrange driver, an 8 inch plastic cone woofer, and a 10 inch active cone radiator that handles frequencies below 35 Hz, extending the bass response to approximately 28 Hz at ±3 dB. The speaker features wire-wound level controls for midrange and tweeter on the rear panel, facilitating tonal adjustments. It supports bi-wiring and bi-amping through two pairs of banana jacks dedicated to mid/high and low-frequency sections. The crossover uses first-order slopes with audiophile-quality components, including air-cored inductors and polycarbonate and polypropylene capacitors, designed to present a stable impedance load to amplifiers. The cabinet is constructed from dense Multi-Fiber material for resonance control. The 2Ci is recommended to be used with its optional metal base or dedicated Sound Anchor stands for optimal height and vibration damping. Sensitivity is rated at 88 dB/W/m, nominal impedance around 7 ohms, and it requires 40-160 watts of amplification. Dimensions are approximately 36.5" H (43.5" with stands) x 16" W x 10.25" D, weighing about 58 lbs per speaker. The system is made in the USA and has been in production with various improvements for nearly 30 years, noted for its dynamic range, clarity, and deep bass performance.
