The Vandersteen 2B is a classic floorstanding loudspeaker that has evolved over the years but retains its fundamental design principles. It features a four-driver, three-way configuration with a 10-inch active acoustic coupler for sub-bass, an 8-inch woofer, a 4.5-inch midrange, and a 1-inch tweeter. The speaker is designed to be time- and phase-accurate, employing first-order crossover networks that are individually tweaked in the factory's anechoic chamber to maintain amplitude and timing relationships accurately. The cabinet has a large, open-frame design with a wrap-around cloth grille. The 2B is known for its coherent sound, dimensional purity, and has been in continuous production since 1977, making it one of the best-selling audiophile loudspeakers with over 100,000 pairs sold. It is made in the USA and recommended for amplifiers delivering 40-160 watts into 8 ohms.
