About the Colibri XGM

The Van den Hul Colibri XGM is part of the Colibri series, a top model custom hand-built moving coil phono cartridge by Van den Hul. It features a cross-shaped modulator and matched crystal gold wire coils, delivering a medium output of 0.38 mV per channel, making it especially suitable for classical music. The cartridge is available with a metal body (-M suffix) and uses a VDH 1S stylus with a radius of 2 x 85 microns mounted on a solid boron cantilever. It offers a frequency response from 5 Hz to 65,000 Hz, tracking force between 1.35 and 1.5 grams, and a vertical tracking angle of 22 degrees. The cartridge has a channel separation greater than 35 dB and channel unbalance less than 0.5 dB. Load impedance is non-critical but advisable between 50 and 600 ohms. The design emphasizes minimal magnetic structure for a clean and open sound, with a focus on detail and dynamics. The wooden container can be personalized with the customer's name upon request. This cartridge is handmade and tailored to individual customer specifications, including tonearm and music preferences.
