About the Sigma 160i
The VAC Sigma 160i is an all-tube integrated amplifier delivering 86 watts per channel using four KT88 output tubes plus 12AU7 and 12AX7 small-signal tubes. It combines a true tube line control stage with an optional phono section (37 dB MM gain, 57 dB MC gain), with optional MC and balanced inputs available. Separate rectification and power filtering for low-level stages and a circuit layout derived from VAC's Statement series ensure low noise and high stability. Speaker outputs serve 4 and 8 ohm loads. Features include a 12-volt trigger, home-theater bypass, preamplifier outputs, and motorized remote volume control. Superseded by the Sigma 170i iQ, the Sigma 160i is no longer in VAC's current product listings. A Sigma 160i SE version with upgraded transformers and passive parts was also produced.
