About the Phi 200
The VAC Phi 200 is a 100 watt per channel stereo tube power amplifier featuring four KT88 and four 6SN7 tubes. It offers speaker taps for loads of 1-2, 2-4, and 4-8 ohms and can be switched to mono mode to deliver 200 watts into 8 ohms. The amplifier uses a fully balanced circuitry with both XLR and RCA inputs, and gains of 36 dB single-ended or 30 dB balanced. Its input and driver stages employ class-A, direct-coupled, low-mu triode circuits derived from the Phi 300 model. The frequency response ranges from 4 Hz to 75 kHz with a power bandwidth of 13 Hz to 70 kHz. The Phi 200 is praised for its resolution, inner detail, imaging, soundstaging, speed, and dynamics, combining the speed and grip of solid-state with the musicality and treble sweetness of tubes. It includes convenient front panel power switch, bias adjustment with LED indicators, and is available in a metallic silver gloss front plate with a matte black chassis. The amplifier weighs approximately 40.9 kg and measures 222 x 452 x 452 mm. It was produced around 2009-2015 and remains a highly regarded model in VAC's lineup.
