The Universal Audio Apollo 16 is a professional audio interface designed for high-resolution recording and mixing, featuring 16 channels of analog input and output via DB-25 connectors. It delivers world-class A/D and D/A conversion with exceptionally low total harmonic distortion (THD) and high dynamic range, providing a deep, wide soundstage with open and transparent audio quality. The unit includes onboard UAD-2 QUAD DSP processing for real-time tracking and mixing with UAD Powered Plug-Ins at sub-2ms latency, enabling users to apply classic analog emulations from renowned brands such as Ampex, Lexicon, Manley, Neve, Roland, SSL, and Studer. It supports multi-unit cascading over MADI for up to 32x32 analog I/O and eight UAD processors, making it scalable for large professional studios. The Apollo 16 offers four stereo cue mixes with assignable outputs, stereo AES-EBU digital I/O, and dedicated XLR monitor outputs. It is FireWire/Thunderbolt-ready, with an optional Thunderbolt card for enhanced performance and lower latency on Mac systems. The interface is housed in a silent, fanless 1U rackmount chassis and is optimized for use alongside external preamps and mixing consoles, focusing on line-level analog I/O rather than onboard mic preamps or ADAT ports. The Console software provides flexible routing, multiple monitor mixes, and extensive UAD plug-in integration throughout the creative process.
