About the Seven
The Tron Seven Reference (also known as Seven Phono GT in some references) is a premium valve phonostage designed for audiophiles seeking exceptional sound quality and build. It features a meticulously designed multi-layer amplifier PCB with hand-matched components to tight tolerances, including 12AX7 and 12AU7 triodes. The unit offers multiple gain settings (+24dB, +30dB, and a fixed +49dB) to accommodate various MC cartridge outputs, with fixed cartridge loading of 184 ohms or 46 ohms depending on gain setting. The power supply is housed in a screened compartment to minimize noise, and the chassis is robust and well finished. Sonically, it is praised for its dynamic range, clarity, and ability to reveal musical detail with a wide, deep soundstage and a slight presence boost in the treble for added sparkle. The Seven Reference delivers very low distortion (<0.06% up to 3V output) and a high signal-to-noise ratio (up to 75.5dB), making it compatible with the lowest output MC cartridges without sacrificing noise performance. Dimensions are approximately 455x105x355mm, with a power consumption of 10W. The unit was highly regarded in reviews for its musicality, tonal richness, and ability to transform vinyl playback into an involving experience. The Seven range was discontinued in December 2018 after 12 years in production.
