About the d100
The Totaldac d100 speakers are designed to offer the most natural music reproduction while being compatible with typical living rooms and not overly expensive. They stand nearly 4 feet tall with Baltic birch plywood cabinets painted in a subtle shimmery near black finish. The design features two 12-inch Neodymium drivers: the lower driver dedicated to bass and the top driver handling bass and midrange frequencies, handing off above 3.5kHz to a horn-loaded 1-inch compression tweeter with an organic dome. The speakers have a 2.5-way configuration with a bass cutoff at 25Hz (6dB in room) and an average impedance of 8 ohms with smooth variations, making them easy to match with any amplifier, including low power triodes. The crossover is housed in its own wooden enclosure inside the speaker and uses high-quality air coils and selected film capacitors with point-to-point wiring, no PCB traces. Mundorf binding posts accept banana and spade connectors. The cabinet is made of Baltic Birch Plywood, with an option for 100% massive chestnut wood. The speakers weigh 42 kg each and measure 320mm wide, 470mm deep, and 1180mm high. They are made in France and priced at 13,900 euros including VAT in Europe (12,800 euros excluding VAT outside Europe). The d100 speakers are praised for their controlled sound, realistic and rich bass, and bookshelf speaker-like coherence due to most sound emanating from the upper part of the speaker. They are suitable for a wide range of music genres and have components sourced from Western Europe manufacturers.
