About the HD-XA1
The Toshiba HD-XA1 is a high-definition HD DVD player designed to play HD DVD discs with selectable 720p/1080i output via HDMI and component video. It supports DVD-Video, DVD-R/-RW/-RAM, CD, audio CD-R/-RW, MP3, and WMA CD-R/-RW formats. The player features built-in audio decoding for Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD (2-channel), DTS, and DTS-HD lossless formats. It includes HDMI digital output with HDCP copy protection, gold-plated analog audio outputs (5.1 channel and stereo), coaxial and optical digital audio outputs, and an Ethernet port for internet content access. The HD-XA1 has two front-panel USB ports and an RS-232C port. It uses a 216MHz/11-bit video D/A converter and multichannel 192kHz/24-bit audio D/A converters. The player offers DVD video upconversion to 720p or 1080i through HDMI, with enhanced black level selection and supports letterbox and pan-and-scan modes. It has a motorized front panel door, a motion-activated backlit remote control, and tri-lingual on-screen display. Dimensions are approximately 17-1/4" W x 4-9/16" H x 15-1/2" D. It does not support 1080p output or full Dolby TrueHD surround decoding internally but supports 2-channel TrueHD. The player was designed to complement Toshiba's HD TVs and projectors and includes extensive audio management features such as user-selectable crossovers, delay, and channel level adjustments. Warranty is 1 year parts and 90 days labor. The HD-XA1 was released during the HD DVD format era and is no longer manufactured.
