About the LDRx Passive
The Tortuga Audio LDRx Passive Preamplifier is a 3-input, 2-output single-ended audiophile preamp built with 3rd generation auto-calibrating LDR technology and adjustable input impedance. It uses software-driven digitally controlled passive resistive analog attenuation with audio grade LDRs in a series/shunt topology, offering colorless clarity and articulation that rivals top-end active preamps costing much more. The LDRx features an input impedance floor of nominally 10k ohms, fully self-contained auto-calibration of the analog LDRs over a 60 dB attenuation range, and no relays in the audio signal path for input switching. Control is via an Apple Remote and a multifunction encoder on the front panel, with status displayed on dual numerical displays. Software updates are possible via a USB port. The unit is housed in a stylish black anodized aluminum enclosure with bamboo side panels and is handmade in the USA. It includes rhodium over silver plated copper Cardas jacks with optional Neotech 26AWG UP-OCC solid silver wiring in the signal path. The power supply uses a toroidal transformer with EMI/RFI filtering and switch mode DC-DC regulators for quiet, stable control power. The LDRx is known for its colorless, transparent, and high-resolution sound quality with excellent dynamics and musicality. Replaceable LDR modules ensure long-term value, with an estimated LDR life expectancy of over 50,000 hours. The LDRx
