About the Spirit CD100
The Thule Audio Spirit CD100 is a compact disc player released in 2001, designed with simplicity and high performance in mind. It features a heavy steel case with an 8-9 mm thick aluminum front panel, ensuring minimal vibration and mechanical noise. The player supports standard CD formats and offers a frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz, a signal-to-noise ratio of 96dB, and total harmonic distortion of 0.0035%. It outputs analog audio at 2.2V line level and includes a coaxial digital output. Internally, it uses a Philips 12.4 drive mechanism controlled by Thule's own software, a Burr-Brown PCM1710 DAC with multilevel Delta-Sigma technology, and Burr-Brown OPA2134 FET op amps for analog output amplification. The DAC clock is actively buffered for improved performance. The unit weighs 7 kg and measures 420 x 80 x 258 mm. It comes with a remote control and is noted for its extremely silent operation once the disc drawer is closed. The Spirit CD100 is praised for its analog-like sound quality, deep bass, clear mids, and crystal-clear highs, making it highly recommended among audiophiles. It was manufactured in Denmark but is no longer in production as Thule Audio has ceased operations.
