About the FET 10/PC
The Threshold FET 10/PC is a dedicated phono preamplifier and RIAA equalizer designed by Nelson Pass in the mid-1980s. It supports both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges with adjustable gain settings of 40dB (MM) and 60dB (MC) at 1kHz. The unit features internal dip switches for precise adjustment of gain and capacitance loading to match various cartridges, including resistance settings of 22, 47, 100, 1,000 ohms, and capacitance settings from 50pF to 1,000pF. It has an output impedance of 110 ohms unbalanced and 220 ohms balanced, with two pairs of balanced or unbalanced outputs. The frequency response extends from 1.5Hz to 150kHz with RIAA accuracy within 0.025%, and total harmonic distortion is exceptionally low at 0.01% at 1V output. The unit is built with meticulous craftsmanship, including hand-selected components, gold-plated circuit boards, and an external power supply to minimize noise. It is highly regarded for its neutral, transparent sound with excellent bass control, natural midrange bloom, and detailed resolution, making it a reference phono stage for audiophiles. Dimensions are 19" W x 2" H x 10" D. Originally
