About the Dionysos

The Thrax Dionysos is a remote controlled transformer coupled vacuum tube line level amplifier featuring a single low noise dual triode gain stage loaded with a step-down transformer. It accepts both balanced and unbalanced inputs via RCA and XLR connectors and provides dual balanced and unbalanced outputs for bi-amping. The volume control uses a unique stepped transformer winding ratio system for perfect repeatability and optimal sound quality, avoiding the noise and power loss typical of resistor-based attenuators. The power supply employs a choke input rectifier and a shunt regulated constant current source for ultra-low noise and dynamic performance. The chassis is a solid, interlocking aluminum structure with vibration isolation and no visible screws, ensuring mechanical and electrical protection. The preamplifier includes programmable absolute phase per input, home theatre bypass, and microprocessor control. It is fully tubed with NOS Russian tubes and designed for audiophile systems requiring precise source selection, signal conditioning, and volume control.
