About the TD-150
The Thorens TD150 is a 2-speed (33 and 45 RPM) belt-drive turntable featuring a suspended chassis design that isolates the platter and tonearm from motor vibrations using three conical springs. It has a 16-pole synchronous motor and a precision balanced 12-inch platter weighing approximately 7 lbs. The tonearm includes an adjustable low-mass plug-in headshell allowing tracking angle adjustment to 15 degrees, with precise anti-skate control and tracking force regulation down to 0.5 grams. The turntable offers smooth speed changes without jolting the stylus and was available in several configurations: A prefix models with tonearm but no base, B with base but no tonearm, and AB as a complete unit. The TD150 was highly regarded for its sound quality and mechanical design, influencing many future turntable designs. It was manufactured in Germany from 1965 until 1973 and is no longer in production.
