The Thorens TD-320 mkII is a classic German-made turntable renowned for its precision and build quality. Manufactured from 1988 to 1990, it features a belt drive system powered by a low voltage 16-pole synchronous motor (Berger RSM 50) with a 2-phase generator for synchronous speed control. It supports 33 1/3 and 45 rpm speeds with electronic speed change and contactless opto-electronic limit switching. The turntable has a 300 mm, 3.1 kg zinc alloy platter that is dynamically balanced to reduce resonance. The tonearm is the Thorens TP 90, with an effective length of 232 mm, an offset angle of 23 degrees, and an effective mass of 17 g. The chassis uses a swing design with leaf spring suspension to isolate vibrations. It includes a phono output (RCA) and ground cable. Dimensions are 440 x 170 x 350 mm (W x H x D) and it weighs approximately 11 kg. The TD-320 mkII is highly regarded for its stable speed, low wow and flutter (0.035%), and low rumble (-72 dB), making it a sought-after vintage HiFi turntable.
