Introduced in 1962, the Thorens TD-121 is a manual turntable with a cast iron chassis weighing approximately 4.8 kg and a 300 mm diameter platter. It operates at a fixed speed of 33⅓ rpm and lacks features such as a strobe, spirit level, and the ability to play 45 rpm records, distinguishing it from the more advanced TD-124 model. The TD-121 uses the lighter bearing from the TD-135 and shares the same chassis and drive system as the TD-124, including an idler wheel drive system. The platter is a single-piece, non-magnetic design without a secondary lighter platter or decoupling upper plate. It was marketed as an economy version of the TD-124, offering solid build quality and smooth, quiet operation but with fewer features. The turntable requires a separate tonearm, as it typically comes without one. Restoration and servicing are common among enthusiasts, with parts such as idler wheels and motor bearings still available.
