About the CS 2.4

The Thiel CS 2.4 is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker using all Thiel-designed metal-diaphragm drivers: a 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter coincident with a 3.5-inch aluminum cone midrange sharing a single voice coil, and an 8-inch aluminum cone woofer loaded by an oval passive radiator. The coincident midrange/tweeter uses a mechanical crossover, eliminating the electrical midrange-to-tweeter crossover section for improved phase coherence and resolution. Short-coil/long-gap, copper-stabilized motor systems reduce distortion across all drivers. The cabinet features 1-inch thick walls, a 3-inch thick front baffle, and a sloped baffle for acoustic alignment. Measurements are 41.5 inches high by 11 inches wide by 14 inches deep, at 70 lbs. Frequency response is 33Hz to 37kHz (-3dB), sensitivity 87dB at 2.8V/1m, and nominal impedance 4 ohms (minimum 3 ohms). Recommended amplifier power is 100 to 400 watts. Produced from approximately 2003 to 2012, the CS 2.4 is noted for superb imaging, soundstaging, and neutrality. A Signature Edition (CS 2.4 SE) offered boutique capacitors and cosmetic upgrades.
