About the PCS

The Thiel PCS is a 3-way stand-mounted audiophile monitor approximately 19 inches tall, designed by Thiel Audio as a high-performance bookshelf loudspeaker. Its primary feature is an in-house coaxial tweeter/midrange unit using a single motor system and a mechanical crossover, eliminating the electrical midrange-to-tweeter crossover for improved time coherence and imaging precision. A 6.5-inch aluminum cone woofer with short-coil/long-gap motor design handles the low frequencies. The enclosure uses veneered MDF with a sloped front baffle for acoustic alignment and internal fiber batting damping. Frequency response extends from approximately 55Hz to 23kHz (-3dB), with 87dB sensitivity and 4 ohm nominal impedance (minimum 3.3 ohms). Recommended amplifier power is 50-200 watts into 4 ohms. Available in walnut or birds-eye maple veneer finishes, the PCS is noted for its neutral, detailed sound, excellent midrange clarity, and precise imaging. A subwoofer is recommended for full low-frequency extension in larger rooms.
