About the CS 1.6

The Thiel Audio CS-1.6 is a coherent source loudspeaker designed to deliver high realism, clarity, and spatial performance. It features a 1" aluminum dome tweeter with a short coil and long gap design for low distortion, and a 6.5" aluminum cone woofer with a 3" voice coil that increases driver rigidity and raises breakup frequency, improving upper midrange performance. The woofer's neodymium magnet is placed inside the coil, making the speaker magnetically shielded for placement near video displays. The cabinet is constructed with thick, rigid walls and a sloped front baffle to ensure time and phase coherence, allowing sound from both drivers to reach the listener simultaneously. The bass-reflex slot port is designed to minimize wind noise and tuning modifications. The speaker has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, sensitivity of 90 dB, and recommended amplifier power of 50 to 300 watts. Dimensions are 35.5" H x 9" W x 11.5" D, and it weighs approximately 38 lbs. The CS-1.6 is noted for its spacious soundstage, smooth and refined midrange and treble, and surprisingly strong bass for its size, though pairing with a subwoofer is recommended for full-range performance. It comes with a 10-year warranty and is sold individually in various real-wood finishes including natural cherry.
