About the Simplicity II
The Thales Simplicity II tonearm sets the benchmark in tonearm design with its unique tetragon tracking geometry that reduces tracking error to an exceptionally low 0.006°. It employs Thales' proprietary TTF (Thales-Tension-Free) bearing technology, which arranges micro ball bearings in a tension-free setup to achieve incredibly low friction, absolute freedom from backlash, and integrated shock absorption. The tonearm tubes are tuned to cancel resonances, enhancing damping properties beyond traditional single-arm tube designs. It features a five-axis bearing with ten micro ball bearings, fine adjustment mechanisms for VTA and azimuth, and an easily removable headshell for precise cartridge alignment. The arm supports cartridge weights from 7 to 23 grams and comes with three different counterweights to accommodate this range. Available finishes include bronze, grey, and black anodized aluminum, with internal wiring made from pure copper and options for DIN, RCA, or XLR terminations. The effective length is 9 inches (229-230mm spindle-to-pivot), with an effective mass of approximately 18-19 grams. The design omits an anti-skating mechanism due to its unique geometry minimizing lateral forces. The package includes a special installation tool and sight-unit for precise setup. The Simplicity II is highly regarded for its detailed, open, and dynamic sound reproduction, making it a top choice for audiophiles seeking exceptional analog performance.
