The Thöress Phono Enhancer is a premium phono preamplifier designed to provide excellent signal-to-noise performance in purely active operation mode, without the need for step-up transformers. It features a minimalist non-balanced zero-feedback schematic and utilizes vacuum tubes such as the 6J5GT and PCC88. The device offers six phono inputs with a standard gain pattern of 5xMC and 1xMM, though alternative configurations are available upon request. The Phono Enhancer is renowned for its parametric equalization capabilities, allowing users to adjust the edge frequencies of the de-emphasis characteristic via three 6-position rotary selectors. This feature enables the reproduction of various historical phono equalization curves, including those used in the pre-microgroove 78-rpm era. Additionally, it supports real-to-reel tape NAB and IEC equalization settings upon request.
