About the Verus Motor
The Teres Verus motor is a premium synchronous motor system that replaces the previous Reference motor and is now standard for all Teres 200 series turntables. It employs a unique Direct Coupling drive methodology, which uses a large diameter pulley, an o-ring, and gravity to directly couple the motor to the platter, eliminating the speed and sound degradations caused by belts and idler wheels. The motor pod base is available in black metal or wood to match the turntable aesthetics. The motor rests on rubber bumper pads and leans against the platter, with contact made via a rubber o-ring that can be disengaged to prevent flat spots. The motor and controller are housed in black anodized aluminum enclosures, with the controller featuring a thick milled aluminum faceplate. The controller box dimensions are 8.5" W x 9.75" D x 3.5" H. The motor system includes a controller unit, IEC power cord, and motor pod. The Verus motor is noted for its serious design and construction quality, justifying its price point. It offers improved sonic character and speed stability compared to previous Teres motors and belt-driven systems.
