About the Certus 450
The Teres Audio Certus 450 is a luxury audiophile turntable designed for exceptional sound quality and precision. It features a heavy platter loaded with over 60 pounds of lead shot, with an outer layer made of Cocobolo wood and a phenolic core, providing excellent mass and vibration damping. The turntable uses a low cogging multi-phase permanent magnet synchronous direct drive motor with magnetic damping via an eddy current brake and high torque capability (563 oz/inch). It supports playback speeds of 33-1/3, 45, and 78 RPM with very high speed accuracy: approximately -0.011% ± 0.003% at 33-1/3 RPM, -0.006% ± 0.003% at 45 RPM, and -0.160% ± 0.003% at 78 RPM. The drive system employs high resolution digital drive signal synthesis to maintain stable and precise rotation. Although wow and flutter measurements are not officially published, expert opinion suggests they are substantially less than 0.01%.
