About the TeddyDAC
The TeddyDAC is a digital-to-analog converter designed by TeddyPardo, known for its excellent build quality and sound performance. It uses the Wolfson Micro WM8741 DAC chip and WM8804 digital receiver, supporting all common sample rates up to 192 kHz on coaxial and optical inputs, and up to 48 kHz on USB input. The DAC features a discrete JFET-based output stage without opamps and a sophisticated power supply with multiple proprietary SuperTeddyReg voltage regulators, which contribute to its clean clock signal and low jitter. It has a simple front panel with a volume control and input selector, and inputs include two coaxial, one optical, and one USB. The output is a pair of RCA analog outputs at 2V level. The unit is housed in a compact, solid metal enclosure and is praised for its natural, dynamic, and detailed sound that is non-analytical and non-fatiguing. It can be used directly into a power amplifier when equipped with volume control, eliminating the need for a preamp. The TeddyDAC is no longer manufactured but remains highly regarded for its sonic qualities and build.
