About the P70 CD
The Esoteric P-70 is a premium CD transport designed by TEAC, featuring the VRDS (Vibration-Free Rigid Disc-Clamping System) mechanism that clamps the CD to a high-mass aluminum turntable to reduce vibration and disc read errors. It incorporates a twin-transformer structure to isolate mechanical and digital signals, enhancing interference rejection. The P-70 supports word synchronization via a master clock input to eliminate jitter during data transfer to a DAC. Its chassis is constructed from 20 mm extruded aluminum attached to 8 mm sheet steel, with copper and nickel plating to minimize internal interference. The transport weighs about 55 lbs and measures 465 x 162 x 355 mm. It offers multiple digital outputs including TOSLINK, SPDIF, and XLR, and features a high-precision PLL circuit with VCXO to minimize jitter. The P-70 was released around 2001-2002 and is considered a statement product in TEAC's Esoteric line, It includes a wireless remote control and has a robust build with cast iron pinpoint insulators for mechanical grounding.
