About the P30
The TEAC Esoteric P-30 is a high-precision CD transport player introduced around 1995, designed to deliver superior digital audio performance. It employs a VRDS (Vibration Resistant Disc Structure) mechanism that enhances optical axis accuracy and minimizes servo current, reducing read errors and timing jitter. The turntable is made of high-precision die-cast aluminum supported by a reinforced rib structure and a copper-plated sub-chassis to reduce vibration modes. The drive motor is a high-grade brushless Hall motor providing excellent rotational stability and durability. A key feature is the DSRLL (Digital Servo Ratio Locked Loop) circuit, which resamples standard CD 44.1kHz/16-bit PCM data to 48kHz/24-bit PCM, acting as an effective jitter filter that suppresses jitter by -40dB above 300 Hz, improving sound quality. The power transformers for the mechanism and DSRLL systems are separated to prevent interference, with the transformer located externally on the rear panel. The P-30 outputs digital signals via RCA, XLR, and optical connectors, making it compatible with various DACs. It is built with a robust aluminum chassis, weighs approximately 14.5 kg, and features a minimalist front panel with amber display and remote control operation. This transport is highly regarded for its build quality, jitter reduction technology, and sonic performance, often used in high-end audio setups.
