About the Aikido
The Aikido linestage amplifier by Tatic Audio employs a specialized Aikido circuit topology that significantly improves power supply rejection and reduces distortion without using global feedback. It operates at low B+ voltages (24V or 48V) compared to typical tube amplifiers that require 200-400V, allowing safer and more efficient operation. The PCB is robustly constructed with thick FR-4 material and plated-through copper traces, designed for stereo use with two amplifiers per board. The circuit achieves superb sonic performance by balancing imperfections internally, resulting in neutral, detailed, fast, and dynamic sound rather than the typical warm and soft tube character. It supports various tube types and configurations, including 6GM8/6N27P/ECC86 at 24V and 12BH7 or ECC99 at 48V, with heaters placed in series parallel to the power supply and ground. The design includes redundant solder pads for flexibility in component choice and size. The Aikido topology is noted for its low distortion, low output impedance, and excellent power supply noise rejection, making it a highly regarded tube linestage amplifier circuit among audiophiles and DIY enthusiasts.
