The Tannoy Canterbury 15, part of the Prestige series including Gold Reference (GR) variants, is a high-end 2-way floorstanding loudspeaker renowned for its Dual Concentric driver technology that delivers coherent point-source imaging and exceptional dynamics. It utilizes a 15-inch driver with Alnico magnet system, PepperPot WaveGuide, and advanced materials like fibre-enriched paper pulp cone and aluminium-magnesium alloy compression driver for superior clarity, articulation, and realism across the frequency spectrum. Housed in a handcrafted oiled walnut veneered cabinet with high-density birch ply and extensive bracing, it employs a Variable Distributed Port (VDPS) system for room-tunable bass. Bi-wired crossovers with premium components ensure natural sound cohesion. Various models exist from around 1990 to GR editions, praised for musicality, warmth, detail, and compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers from low-power tubes to high-output solids. It is no longer in active production by Tannoy.
